Results of the forum Russia Africa.The Russia – Africa summit and Economic forum were held on October 23-24 in Sochi under the motto “For peace, security and development”. Such large-scale events are held in modern Russia for the first time and have no analogues in the history of Russian-African relations. Official delegations of African countries and business representatives expressed high interest in further development of cooperation, in deepening and intensification of Russian-African cooperation. The Russia – Africa Economic forum was preceded by large-scale preparatory work, which served to strengthen and expand cooperation between Russia and Africa. Priority areas of economic cooperation were identified, on which concrete results could be achieved in the coming years: energy, including renewable energy sources; infrastructure development, especially the construction of Railways and housing; modern and high-tech mining and processing of minerals; agriculture, digital technology, exploration, medicine, science and education.
Following the Summit, the participants adopted a final Declaration-a document containing agreed goals and objectives for the further development of Russian-African cooperation in all its dimensions: politics, security, economy, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres. It is important to note that the Declaration establishes a new dialogue mechanism-the Russian-African partnership Forum-holding summits in the Russia – Africa format every three years: “in order to coordinate the development of Russian-African relations, to establish the Russia – Africa partnership Forum, to determine the Russia – Africa Summit as its highest body, which will be held once every three years,” the document States. – In the period between summits to hold in the Russian Federation annual political consultations of Ministers of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the African States which are the current, previous and future chairmen of the African Union”. The Declaration also notes the mutual determination of Russia and the African countries to take this cooperation to a new level-meeting the challenges of the 21st century-when the importance of the exchange of technological products, generation and global trade in knowledge and competencies increases.
